Terms

Last updated 4 September 2026

Orphix is a small, free, public map. These are the house rules — short, and meant to be readable. Using the site means accepting them.

Marking a place

Mark places that matter to someone: a stream, an old oak, a shrine, a bench, a thing made by hand. Say something true about why. That is the whole idea.

Please do not mark a place in order to:

A place is shared. Anyone signed in can add a moment to a public place — that is the point of it. It also means the place you marked will accumulate other people's words and photographs. If you delete the place, you delete their moments with it.

What you post

It stays yours. You keep every right you had in your words and photographs. By posting publicly you give permission for it to be shown on Orphix — that is all this needs to say, and nothing here transfers ownership or allows it to be sold or licensed on.

Post only what is yours to post: your own photographs, or ones you have the right to share. Nothing unlawful, hateful, harassing, or designed to frighten someone. Nothing that reveals another person's private information.

Other people

You can say you care about a place, and add a small emoji to it or to a moment. Those are plain public counts and nothing more — there are no followers here, nothing is ranked by how popular it is, and there is no feed of people. Treat a place someone marked as something they cared enough to write down. If something is wrong, report it rather than arguing on it.

The person who marked a place can delete any moment on it. That is meant for tidying, not for silencing people who disagree.

Moderation

Reported content is reviewed by hand. Anything breaking these rules may be hidden or removed, and an account may be closed, without notice where the reason is obvious. If you think something was removed wrongly, get in touch — a real person will read it.

What Orphix does not promise

This is a free site run by one person. It is provided as it is, with no guarantee that it will be available, that it will keep working, or that what is on it is accurate. Do not rely on it for navigation or for safety. Places are described by whoever marked them; access, conditions and hazards may be completely different from what is written.

Keep your own copies of anything you would be sorry to lose. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Your account

You need to be at least 13. You can stop using Orphix whenever you like and ask for your account to be deleted — see Privacy.

Changes

These terms may change; the date at the top will change with them. Carrying on using the site after that means accepting the new version.
